Lighthouse Baptist Church was started in 1997, in Pastor Bill Murdock's home. When he quickly ran out of room for his congregation of 60, they moved service into the old Sarge Biltz's building at U.S. 52 and State Rd. 25. The building used to be a bar and was a very ironic place for Pastor Bill Murdock to start a church. In an interview Pastor Murdock said, "I ran from God when I was 19, even though I knew God wanted me to be a preacher. I had heard that preachers preached in bars from time to time and I didn't want to do that. Now I preach in a bar all the time." That building was changed from a place of wickedness to a haven of Godliness. The Biltz building is a now a happy memory. With the church family still growing it was time to move on yet again. Pastor Murdock friend the Pastor of Victory Baptist Church, now known as Lighthouse Baptist Church. The previous Pastor wanted to merge the churches but Pastor Murdock knew God had something better in store. With much prayer from Pastor Murdock and the church, the Pastor of Victory Baptist Church came and gave Lighthouse Baptist the property. What a testimony of God's glorious provision! Since it's inception the people of Lighthouse Baptist Church have seen many saved, baptized, learn and live for the Lord. They have seen the children grow and find godly spouses and start their own families. They have seen the torch of the Gospel, faith, and ministries passed down to the next generation. God has blessed Lighthouse Baptist Church in many ways, so come on in and see it for yourself.
